LEARNING WITH LELIA

Unfortunately my gardening class timetable was overturned with Covid 19.  Hopefully I will be able to reintroduce the programme in 2021.  Will inform you as soon as it is possible.

February 2020.

Over the coming months I plan to hold classes in my own home to share the knowledge of my horticultural journey with you.  These classes will be informal, informative, practical, fun and social.  No previous gardening experience and plant knowledge is necessary just a love of nature, plants and all living things.  In keeping with my belief that horticutural therapy is good for the soul I plan to introduce other wellbeing therapists as guest speakers on specified days.  e.g. CBT therapy, reiki and wellbeing advice. Later on in the Autumn months we will harvest fruits from the garden and make jams and chutneys.

The programme for March is as follows - March is the preparatory month in the garden.  Work completed in March sets the garden up aesthetically and productively for the rest of the year.

4th March    -    Pruning apples trees in the Orchard

11th March  -    Pruning roses in the Rose Garden

18th March  -    Herbaceous border pruning and plant division

25th March  -    Planning and designing a new border

April is the new project month in the garden.  A time to design and build new elements within the garden.  I try to introduce two new projects each April.

1st April       -     Planting up and dressing the new border

8th April      -     Rejuvenating existing and planting new hedging

15th April    -     Building a sink garden of succulents

22nd April   -     Rejuvenating last years plants within the glasshouse

29th April    -     Potting up window boxes and pots for outdoors

May is the month when protected plants are reintroduced to the outdoors.  It is the true start of Summer and brings so much colour onto the patio.

The schedule for the day is -

10-11    -    Meet/greet, tea/coffee, garden tour

11-12    -    Introductory presentation of proposed task and questions

12-1      -    Introduction to working garden space and demonstration

2-4        -    Supervised hands on practical incorporating the skills         learned

The cost of the full day, including lunch, tea/coffee and treats is €60.  Tools will be supplied but bring strong footware, gardening gloves and warm clothes.

I am very excited about sharing my knowledge, my garden and my gardening soul with you.  I promise your heart will be lifted and the world will feel more beautiful.
